The estate

Domaine Suremain is located in Mercurey, in the heart of the Val d'Or. The Mercurey appellation is the most famous of the Côte Chalonnaise and one of the most important in Burgundy. Château du Bourgneuf has been the stronghold of the De Suremain family for 7 generations. The estate was created in 1870 from the grouping together of the different family smallholdings. They have been bottling their wine at the Château since 1947. Yves and Marie-Hélène de Suremain took over the domaine in 1979 and were joined by their eldest son, Loïc, in 2005. They now work 18 hectares of vineyards located in the appellation's finest red premier cru terroirs. Loïc is passionate about viticulture and endeavours to understand the nature of the domaine's soils. He rejuvenates his plots by replanting an average of half a hectare of vines each year. The domaine is often one of the first to harvest because he likes his wines to show the freshness of the fruit. The wines are aged for 12 months in oak barrels. The quality of his work does justice to the nobility of this lovely appellation.
