The estate

Domaine Jean-Claude Courtault is located in Lignorelles (4 km from Chablis). Originally from the Touraine region, Jean-Claude Courtault moved to Lignorelles in 1974 to work as the vineyard manager for a wine estate in the village.
In 1984, Jean-Claude was able to acquire a 1.5-hectare vineyard of 4-year-old vines in Chablis. He then leased a plot of land in the Chablis appellation, which he planted with the help of his wife, Marie-Chantal. Domaine Jean-Claude Courtault was born.
Over the years, while continuing to work as vineyard manager for the other wine estate, Jean-Claude expanded and worked his own vineyards.
He vinified his wines and started selling them in 1987, a vintage for which he picked up a gold medal at the "Concours Général des Vins" in Paris.
In 1995, when the domaine had reached around a dozen hectares in Chablis and Petit Chablis, Jean-Claude decided to devote himself to it full time. He built a winery with all the facilities required to enable him to carry out first-class winemaking work.
The domaine has continued to grow in size and now extends over 20 hectares.
