The story of "VIGNOBLE CHIRAT" began in 1925 when Benoit Chirat moved from the village of Chapelle Villard to St Michel Sur Rhône. His Syrah-based wines used to be served in the bars of Condrieu. The domaine's growth really began in 1980 due to the desire of a young farmer, Gilbert Chirat, to fulfill a dream and turn his passion into reality: to abandon the mixed farming, which the family had been practicing for generations, to concentrate on growing vines on the steep terraces of Condrieu. It would be 24 years before father and son joined forces to create the VIGNOBLES CHIRAT company.
A young wine grower since July 2012, Aurélien seeks to maintain the quality of his father's wines while applying the skills learnt from his studies and the experience gained in various wine regions where he has made wine (New Zealand, South of France and Burgundy). He is now in command of 9 hectares of vineyards split between the CONDRIEU AOP, SAINT JOSEPH AOP and COTE ROTIE AOP, as well as Viognier and Syrah vins de pays.
