The estate

Domaine MODAT was created in 2007 by Henry MODAT, a former Parisian entrepreneur with a passion for wine and the Languedoc region. His son Philippe, a senior civil servant, dedicates his spare time to the family domaine, sharing his love of wine, knowledge and experience. Laurent Abet, an employee at the domaine, brings his technical expertise in sustainable wine growing.
This 27-hectare domaine is located in the commune of Cassagnes in the Agly Valley, near Perpignan, on a plateau situated at 200 - 400 metres above sea level. This exceptional setting offers breathtaking views of the Cathare château of Quéribus in Corbières to the north and Mont Canigou to the south. The domaine's vineyards are surrounded by low dry stone walls and scrubland that stretches for as far as the eye can see. The domaine has 19 hectares of old vines composed of seven different varietals: Syrah, Carignan, Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Macabeu, Carignan Blanc and Muscat Petits Grains. The other 4 hectares have recently been planted with white varietals (Grenache Blanc, Viognier and Roussane). The domaine produces the following IGP appellations: Côtes Catalanes, Côtes du Roussillon and Côtes du Roussillon Villages Caramany.
